Interview

The interview is used by the Election Committee and the Executive Board-elect to learn more about the candidate, the candidate’s interests and goals, the candidate’s strengths and weaknesses, and more that can help aid them in the process of nominating the best fit for the position. Both Officer Candidates and Membership Candidates have required an interview.

The Election Committee will interview Elected Officer Candidates during school hours between April 10 and April 14. Membership Candidates will be interviewed by the Executive Board-elect between May 15 and May 26. Dates are subject to change.

Meeting the interviewers is the moment the interview begins. The interviewers will ask you to take a seat so the interview can be conducted. The interview panel will go through pre-selected but random questions (approx. 6-10), to which the candidate will respond to the best ability. The candidate should be able to answer each question easily without hesitation. Questions are altered to the position the candidate is seeking. Interview questions shall not be shared or discussed outside of the interview. Failure to follow this protocol will result in a penalty.

Once the interview panel is finished with their questions, the candidate may ask the interviewer panel questions about their experience, their office, and duties, or other questions relevant to the A.S.B. In no way will the interview panel reveal details about another candidate’s interview to another candidate.

In the past, the Election Committee has provided candidates with sample questions that were always vague and not helpful. The Election Committee will not be providing sample questions this cycle. Candidates are expected to dress appropriately, act professionally, arrive on time, and speak clearly. First impressions are vital.
